The government has talked down any chance of a change or watering down the help to buy scheme before its official end at the start of the next decade.
The government has released the below statement.
‘We remain committed to the Help to Buy equity loan scheme to 2021, ensuring it continues to support homeowners while stimulating the housing market.
The government also recognises the need to create certainty for prospective homeowners and developers beyond 2021 so it will work with the sector to consider the future of the scheme.
The department regularly reviews the equity help to buy scheme, with the last review taking place in 2015. To infer from this that the Help to buy equity loan scheme will be cancelled is simply incorrect’
