The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors have reported an increase of properties coming for sale through the spring. The housing market has been suffering from a chronic lack of ‘stock’ that has helped push up prices over the past few years with the biggest spike coming post the first Covid lockdown.
However, the increase in properties coming to market has also coincided with an spike in buyers enquiries meaning that the chances of supply and demand meeting any time soon remain low.
In the meantime demand for rented homes in the private sector remains high with most properties receiving multiple applications!
Ormesby St. Margaret located approximately 7 miles northwest of Great Yarmouth has become a sought after village for both families and people looking to retire in to the area.
The village provides a more relaxed pace of life with the village green offering a centre piece surrounded by lots of village amenities including pubs, thriving Indian restaurant, takeaways, small shops and the benefit of a village doctors/dental surgery.

Ormesby also offers a nursery, infant and junior schools making it a great choice for families with young children.

When choosing an estate agent to sell a home it is important to consider how you will want viewings conducted.
If you choose to have the estate agent carry these out always clarify with agents you are talking to what their procedures are for doing accompanied visits. Do they have the level of staffing to accommodate the volume there may be and are they available weekends and early evenings?
At Aldreds the majority of our offices are open until 4pm on Saturdays allowing crucial time for viewings and especially for those people who may be coming in to the area on Saturday only. We also can accommodate early evenings so people can come in the daylight after work.
The advantage of the agent doing the viewings can be the ability to get instant feedback. Also buyers sometimes are more open with the agent and we can bring up and discuss aspects of the properties they have questions about at the viewing stage rather than on the phone in the future.
If you are thinking of selling get in touch with us now so we can discuss.
Hickling has always been one of our more popular villages for house hunters in the Broadland area, attracted by its unspoilt nature, connection to the Norfolk Broads network and its close proximity to the coast.
A village small in population but not in size, with wide open spaces offering a delightful countryside feel and offering the largest of the Norfolk Broads. Hickling Broad is believed to cover an area of over 400 acres, providing a superb boating centre for the sailing and surfing clubs as well as private and holiday boating visitors. Alongside this, many people are drawn to the village by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust base and visitor centre.
Two notable buildings in the village are the 13th Century St Marys Church and the Grade 2 listed Hickling Mill, one of few Norfolk Mills which have been well persevered over the years.
The Hickling Barn Community centre www.hicklingbarn.com is a wonderful village asset too, with a variety of regular events held there. There are also two pubs in the village, The long established Greyhound Inn www.greyhoundinn.com in the centre of the village and The Pleasure Boat on the banks of the Broad.
The village offers a lovely variety of properties from thatched cottages, and substantial period homes to modern bungalows which attract buyers looking to downsize and retire to the area. We, at Aldreds are lucky to be based close by and regularly sell many properties in the village with lots of successful sales achieved over recent months.
If you are looking to sell or buy a home in the village, please do get in touch with our Broadland office on 01692 581089 and we will be pleased to help!
